Snowman Butt (embellished fleece diaper cover) LIVE Giveaway!

Even though there is still a good six inches of snow on the ground from this past weekend, we're supposed to get 12-18 more inches tomorrow! Personally, I absolutely LOVE the snow, and am thoroughly enjoying this very snowy winter. It just makes me feel so peaceful and serene.

To celebrate all this white stuff, I thought I would give away a Snowman Butt embellished fleece diaper cover/soaker, handmade by me.

Fleece is super soft against baby's skin, and very breathable. It doesn't absorb moisture- it repels it, thus creating a barrier between baby's diaper and the outside world. Use it with your favorite prefolds and fitted cloth diapers, or even over disposable diapers for extra protection (and extra cuteness)!

The cover I'm giving away is a size MEDIUM, with the following measurements:
Rise = 17"
Waist = 15-17"
Thigh = 9-10"

You can find other embellished fleece soakers and longies, as well as many other handmade eco-friendly goodies in my Etsy shop, Enchanted Dandelions. You can see other soakers I've made under my Sold Items. Custom orders are always welcome!

On to the giveaway! I thought I would do this one a little bit different. Instead of having it end on a certain date, I will draw a random winner when we reach 200 comments. And instead of having a maximum number of entries per person, you can enter as much as you want. Sound cool? ^.^

Mandatory Entry: Become a public follower of this blog (see right column). Be sure to include your email address where I may contact you if you win.

Bonus Entries: (leave a separate comment for each one)
* Comment with a design you'd like to see embellished on future fleece soakers - unlimited entries!
* Comment with anything related to cloth diapers: about your personal stash, why you love cloth diapers, about their many benefits, tricks and tips, diapers you'd like to try, etc. Doesn't have to be anything significant or long, just little blurbs that stay somewhat on topic ^.^ - unlimited entries!
* Follow me on Twitter (leave username)
* Tweet about this giveaway, including a link to this post - unlimited entries! (just don't annoy your twitter friends too much, *wink*)

Good luck and just go nuts with the comments! Who knows... maybe if the person with the most comments doesn't win, I'll have to send them a little consolation prize. *wink* (In the meantime, I'll sit here and try my best not to join the conversation... it'll be hard- I'm such a cloth diaper fanatic. *grin*)

To taylor earlier about night time solutions:

Our go-to night time diaper is the BumGenius 3.0 OS AIO.. We use the large OS soaker it comes with and we also add another insert. The JoeyBunz hemp inserts are REALLY amazing at soaking up really well, but sometimes the newborn soakers that came w/the diaper work equally as well. It makes for an EXTRA fluffy bottom but it keeps all the urine in and keeps my baby dry for 12-14 hours at night!

Owen's Mom: We do diaper laundry every other day, but have enough to where we could go 3 days inbetween. HOWEVER, you do not want to do that!! Every other day is perfect.. If I go longer than that, I have to soak my diapers in the wash, otherwise the urine smell sets in.

Oh and we use Rockin Green Soap or Thirsties diaper wash.. both are AMAZING! I'll never use regular detergent again!

Owen's: What do you currently use to wash? I haven't tried Charlie's. I tried RnG first and now I am totally hooked!! I also LOVE Thirsties "pre-wash" that I put in during the first initial rinse.. It really seems to keep my diapers brighter and smelling better. I've used RnG to restore my grandma's quilt that was left in a dirty garage and I also used it to restore some of my Mom's baby clothes that we found in my grandparent's attic. It really is amazing stuff!

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:04 PM said...

I used All Free & Clear for the first 6 months.. And it was fine. I did start to have build up after that. Also, I bleach my microfiber about once every 3 months or so.. Helps them stay fresh and keeps them from getting dingy! Especially those overnight ones.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:04 PM said...

Candace, thanks for the pattern! I am dying to try, but I worry about the cost of materials. I would have to order PUL or other materials.

Owen's: Awww what a great DH! Mine is totally on board too. There have been a couple tiems I've wanted to use a sposie diaper from our baby shower gifts and DH is the one to talk me down from the ledge LOL He is amazing!! We're going to California for a big trip this April.. Trying to decide if I wanna lug my CD or not. We can't pack more than 1 suitcase.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:06 PM said...

Candace, yes. I agree with the build-up. I have to strip, but I am not sure if my DH would go for seperate detergent. I am currently entering every contest I can find for Rockin' Green or Thirsties.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:06 PM said...

Owen's: Just go w/that pattern and use flannel.. And you can just use a cover to put over it, like the fleece soakers or a PUL cover you already have! I would start there before buying your own PUL.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:07 PM said...

Candace, do you have a good wet bag for the dirty dipes? I am looking for some right now. I still use some disposable for trips (gasp!)
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:07 PM said...

Owen's: I hear ya! That is why I used All for 6 months. I finally made the jump and then ordered a bunch around the holidays. I think I spent a total of about $50-75 but I have at LEAST a year's worth of detergent now! Kinda sucks though because now I can't buy any new scents when they come out lol DH has me on "no CD buying" lock down lol

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:08 PM said...

Candace, there lies the problem. I need to get more covers. That is why I feel like I need to order PUL. I have 2 in diapers right now and am running out of covers too quickly.

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:09 PM said...

Yes! My favorites are Wahmies brand. They have the little pad of fabric inside for you to put tea tree oil on to keep it smelling fresh. I also use Wahmies brand for my diaper pail too! They seem like really good quality bags. I did buy the Planet Wise wipes pouch from Kelly's Closet.. and I am a little unimpressed.. Seems thin and not very good quality.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:09 PM said...

Candace, Ha! I hear ya. I asked about buying more for my stash after Christmas and I was put off. He is sure we have enough diapers. I have 30 for 2 kiddos.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:10 PM said...

Hmmm... I am dying to try tea tree oil. Oddly enough I have cloth diapered for 2 years, but just started talking about cloth online these past 4 months. I didn't know there was so much out there.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:10 PM said...

I would consider fleece soakers or Thirsties covers.. They're both pretty cheap. The new Thirsties duo wrap is nice because there is only 2 sizes you have to buy! If we are just around the house, I usually let my daughter go w/o a cover and that way I can just change her when I feel she is getting wet. I need to get diaper pins so I can do this more safely though, because right now all I have is Snappis and I'm scared she is gonna hurt herself w/it.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:11 PM said...

I wish I had known more about cloth when I started this with my son. I think if I had been better educated, I might have gone completely cloth with both.

2 years! Wow.. I used sposies on my little girl when she was first born because she was 5lb 5oz and quickly dropped to 5lb and took her a couple months just to get up to around 8lbs! We started as soon as we could though. I am addicted and I loooove it! It has become just as easy as disposables, in my opinion. People should just give it some time!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:12 PM said...

Yes! I just won a Thirsties cover and after having used it for a week, I love it! I used to let my son go without a cover, but he is too old now. He makes a huge mess when it feels wet.

They sell tea tree oil at Walmart. It is about $10 for a big bottle of it.. But it will last you FOREVER because you only use a couple drops at a time. I bought ours when I first had Zoey (in April) and still have over half a bottle!

andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:15 PM said...

Yeah I don't think my daughter is that heavy of a wetter. I did have these diaper covers that I got when we were in Austin, TX on our pre-baby last-chance-alone-time vacation and it is called Diaperraps.. They sell them online here: http://www.babysorganicnursery.com/

I really REALLY liked this cover!! It was soooo soft. It doesn't have laundry tabs, which was my only complaint.. But all I did was close it up before I washed it. It fit over prefolds really well, which is hard to find in a cover since prefolds can be really bulky. Not sure how expensive they are but I loved them!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:16 PM said...

can I ask where in Walmart you found the tea tree oil? I guess I have no idea.

Their velcro seems to be more durable than BumGenius, too!

Hmmm... I have never heard of Joey Bunz.... I need to look into those. I am amazed how many brands there are.

I like the velcro better than snaps, too!

I have had probs with mine. I have 2 that lost their absorbency over time. Stripping hasn't helped.

I get mine at Pittsburg Cloth(FREE SHIP on everything) she is WONDERFUL and GREAT pricing too!!! She has really helped me!!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:34 PM said...

I love the microfiber inserts the best. They have held up the longest.

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:34 PM said...

I prefer snaps.. I used to like Velcro. I won a FuzziBunz in a contest online and I tried it and hated it. I decided to use it for a week and see if it was any good. Now? It is my FAVORITE diaper! Once I adjusted the elastic to fit my daughter right and I used the right insert and right snap settings.. it is PERFECT!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:34 PM said...

I am a snap lover! The velcro wears out over time. Though, velcro is easy for others to figure out.

NOWHERE in SC sells cloth that I know of. I think I am the only one in my town that uses it.

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:35 PM said...

I wish there were local stores that sold cloth here. I have bought almost all of my stuff online.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:36 PM said...

My kiddos are different sizes... not just due to age, but my dd is short and chubby while my son is tall and thin. The Fuzzi Bunz works for them both.

I have to order all of mine, but now I am trying to win most of them. I don't have a store nearby either.

What about cloth wipes guys?? I love my BumGenius simple flannel wipes and I LOVE the wipes that @MagicDandelions makes!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:37 PM said...

I just love trying new diapers! I get so excited to see them in the mail.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:37 PM said...

I've also made a few myself with flannel and like them a lot too. They are soft!! I seem to prefer the thinner flannel type wipes rather than the terry cloth kind.

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:38 PM said...

I use water, a little witch hazel, a couple drops of tea tree oil and some baby shampoo to make my wipes solution. I also use the Wee Essential Soap Bits from etsy.com, they are really amazing and go a long way!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:39 PM said...

I just started using cloth wipes.. I won 2. Now I am hooked. I got more and have 30? Love 'em!

I want to try the tea tree oil for my wipes. For now I just use warm water.

I wish I had known about cloth wipes from the begining. They are so much easier and cheaper to use.

Did you know you can wash and dry disposable baby wipes from the store and use them as liners on your cloth diapers if you ever need to use diaper cream?? We keep a big stack of washed/dried wipes next to our changing table!

Good one Candace!!!! Never heard of that!! I am such a newbie to cloth!! I want to try the smartipants dipe, too, has anyone tried it?

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:42 PM said...

Candace, really? Hmm... never tried it. Doesn't it depend on the brand? I have used Target wipes and they are paper thin. I prefer the Huggies wipes because they are thick.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:42 PM said...

I've heard the Smartipants are good but the reviews online say that they are pretty "cheap" made. But I guess you get what you pay for, right?

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:42 PM said...

Smartipants? Haven't tried them. I will try anything. :)

Owen's Mom: Lilliam @Pittsburgh Cloth has Honey Chunks cheap, and I get the sensitive skin kind and mix with water for my dipe solution. I think there are about 40 chunks in one pack, so it will last and it contains tea tree oil. My LO has had no issues with it.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:43 PM said...

I wish all this info was available when I got pregnant. There is so much to learn the first time around.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:43 PM said...

Owen's: Yes, we use Target brand. Also have tried pampers. Just throw it in your diaper pail and wash them up.. They come out of the dryer REALLY soft.. We use them a lot because there are certain foods that give my little girl diaper rash so we have to sneak some cream in every once and a while and disposables gives her diaper rash.. It works like a CHARM and the size of the wipe fits PERFECTLY in a cloth diaper to cover it!

Unknown on February 5, 2010 at 6:44 PM said...

The Econobum I like a lot too. I got one pack for less than $8 at Cotton Babies. I may get the Bummis kit when I get my tax refund. Has anyone tried it??

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:44 PM said...

SCMOMOF2BOYS, sounds great! Thanks you two for all the great diaper suggestions. There are always better ways to enjoy cloth diapering.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:45 PM said...

How about the Flip diaper? We got one set to try.. I actually REALLY like it.. However, the disposable inserts are a big joke. I had to change her every hour or else it would soak all up and start leaking. The washable inserts are nice though.. Makes for easy CDing!

Unknown on February 5, 2010 at 6:45 PM said...

I am going to try that with the wipes. I use cloth wipes but occassionally by disposables to have when I am out.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:45 PM said...

I love my Bummis kit. My DH thought I was bonkers (I spent 140$ on the package) that was back when I worked and had my own money....so glad I did. DH has come around to my smart thinking!
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:46 PM said...

At least if you wash the disposables and use them.. You feel better about getting your moneys worth, right? lol I can usually wash them twice before they start falling apart and I need to throw them out.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:46 PM said...

I haven't tried the Flip, but it is on my list along with GDipes.
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Unknown on February 5, 2010 at 6:46 PM said...

I am so enjoying this-I have no one to talk to about my cloth diapers and everything I've learned has been from online research.

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:47 PM said...

My only other beef with the Flip is that the cover seems REALLY thin and cheap. However, I've had no problems with it and I love that it is a One Size cover.. The price makes its worth it just for the cover alone!

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:47 PM said...

Candace, absolutely! It is amazing how wipes and disposables add up. $20 a box of diapers, &10 for wipes + 2 kiddos = broke!
andrea.kruse at gmail dot com

Unknown on February 5, 2010 at 6:47 PM said...

I'd love to try the flip, too and cotton babies has them available without the inserts too. I have looked but haven't purchased.

Candace on February 5, 2010 at 6:48 PM said...

You should try getting on babycenter.com! They have Cloth Diaper forums where there are thousands of women talking about CD daily.. It is where I learned most of my knowledge on CD! There is also a Swap board on there!

You should invest in a wet bag from somewhere online. You really only need 1.. It will be worth the money. Ziplocs are gonna add up after a while! My daughter is almost 10 months old!

Candace I wish I could. Frankly I live in a small southern town and NO ONE here uses cloth. I wear my LO in my sleepy wrap grocery shopping and you wouldn't believe the looks I get. My little town needs to get with it. I wish, as corny as this sounds, could educate people about cding bcz it's easy and so much cheaper in the long run!! I just wish companies made starter packs more affordable.

Andrea Kruse on February 5, 2010 at 6:59 PM said...
